\nKuno von Feldbach assigns Feldbach Castle with fields and vineyard to a sister association from Constance.<\/p>\n

1253<\/strong>
\nAbbess Sophia moves with 20 nuns to Feldbach. They adopt the strict rules of the Cistercian order.<\/p>\n

1525 – 1549<\/strong>
\nAfter the Reformation a bailif from the Swiss Confederation admninisters the monastery.<\/p>\n

1552 – 1580<\/strong>
\nThe abbess Afra Schmid revitalises the monastery.<\/p>\n

1613
\n<\/strong>Abbess Ursula Ott builds the confessor’s house, which still exists today and is known as the \u00abold monastery \u00bb.<\/p>\n

1798
\n<\/strong>Decline of the monastery.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

1836
\n<\/strong>The government takes care of the administration of the monastery.<\/p>\n

1848
\n<\/strong>The canton abolishes the monastery.<\/p>\n

1849
\n<\/strong>The municipality of Steckborn buys the plot of land, the church and the buildings of the monastery.<\/p>\n

1849 – 1869
\n<\/strong>LabhartBrothers establish a steam-powered sawmill in Feldbach. They also manufacture rifle stocks. The sawmill burns down, the company leaves.<\/p>\n

1869 – 1881

\n<\/strong>Karl Friedrich Gegauf sets up an embroidery work and a factory for embroidery machines in the refectory.<\/p>\n

1894 – 1916<\/strong>
\nSamuel B\u00e4chtold opens an engine factory and foundry.<\/p>\n

1895<\/strong>
\nOn 24 July the monasterybuilding and the church burn down. The refectory and the buildings to the south are spared.The B\u00e4chtold company builds new halls.<\/p>\n

1918 – 1919<\/strong>
\nThe Rieter companysets up the production of brickworks and packaging machines.<\/p>\n

1925 – 1974<\/strong>
\nArtificial silk is produced in Feldbach. The company employs over 1\u2019000 people at times.<\/p>\n

1976<\/strong>
\nThe confederation, the canton, themunicipality, the local and the school authorities buy the whole area, in a joint venture with Gegauf Co.<\/p>\n

1980<\/strong>
\nOpening of the new harbour, with space for 270 boats.<\/p>\n

1986<\/strong>
\nOpening of the learning centre and Hotel Feldbach.<\/p>\n

1994 – 1995<\/strong>
\nEnlargement, renovation and re-opening of the \u00ab See & Park Hotel Feldbach \u00bb.<\/p>\n

2012 – 2013<\/strong>
\nIn order to meet the increasing needs of guests, all 36 rooms and the bathrooms are renovated (in-vestment of CHF 1\u2019600\u2019000.-).<\/p>\n

2018<\/strong>
\nWith the newly realised rooms Bodensee, Obersee and Untersee, the range of rooms for banquets and seminars is expanded.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text][\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n
